A few updates on the house
We're still making some progress on the house, although it has been frustrating to have so many different projects going at once and not having any of them fully completed yet. We are almost finished with the drywall in the garage. I only have to trim out the areas around the garage doors. However, that still leaves the plaster/taping and the painting of the garage left for later. Still, it is crucial to be able to park 2 cars in the garage when it's 15 degrees out in the morning. Makes a huge difference.
On to the laundry room... We've plastered and painted the room in preparation for the washer and dryer. However, after the delivery company "lost" our first washing machine, the washer is now on backorder and we don't know when we will eventually receive it. It's beyond frustrating to have paid for these things 3 months ago and still be running to the Laundromat every 2 weeks. The cabinets are sitting in our living room now, also waiting to be installed after the washer/dryer arrive. Then we'll have to get a hold of the countertop people to come out and finish that room.
The downstairs bath, while "finished", still lacks a mirror or toilet paper and towel holders. We simply cannot find anything that remotely matches our sink in an oil-rubbed bronze finish.
We are so sick of our gross bedrooms that we have hastily undertaken a drywalling project to patch and finish the walls in preparation for painting. At that point, we're having the carpet replaced so we don't have to cringe every time we walk around without shoes on. Would be very nice to have our office set up and to have a clean and comfy guest room complete.
That is the majority of our current ongoing projects. We are still looking for a structural engineer and contractor to remove the beam in our living room and we're still floor shopping (although we've essentially settled on Brazilian cherry hardwood floors).
Here are a few pics of the garage to take a look at the "final" product with lighting, windows, drywall and cars (sans paint/plaster)!
